Bohemian Brewery Brings Czech Inspired Beer to Utah

17 October 2010 By: Casey No Comment | Editor's Picks, featured

The Bohemian Brewery is a Microbrew Brewpub Craft Brewery in the Salt Lake City valley brewing traditional European Style Lagers (Czech & German/Bavarian) with a great European style restaurant, patio and tavern serving traditional European dishes. I recently got a chance to take a tour of the brewery and taste of their fabulous food offerings. For a state that prides itself on wacky liquor laws and low percentage beer, Utah has some incredible local breweries including well known brands Uinta, Wasatch, and Squatters .  But for those who haven’t had the opportunity to try Bohemian’s incredibly flavorful beers, let me tell you this, you are certainly missing out on some of the best beer brewed in Utah.

The Bohemian Brewery is a family operated restaurant, brew house, and pub who brings the old world tradition of brewing Lagers to Utah. According to the Bohemian Brew family,  the brewery brews by the German Purity Law and therefor only brews Lagered Beer. This allows for natural carbonization to occur giving a very crisp and clean finish with a full body beer. Sounds good yet? Hell yes!

So what beers can you find yourself tasting at Bohemian? Here is a break down:

Bohemian’s Czech Pilsener ~ This light, crisp and full bodied lager is well aged and made from Pilsen Malt and real Czech yeast imported from Prague.

Bohemian’s Viennese Lager ~ This lager is a full bodied amber colored Vienna style lager. This beer is slightly more hoppy than Bohemian’s other beers and is one of my favorites!

Bohemian’s Bavarian Weiss ~ While I’m usually not a fan of most wheat style beers, the Bavarian Weiss is an impressive beer. The Bavarian Weiss is served unfiltered with a slice of lemon to help achieve a light citrus taste and goes down very easily!

Bohemian’s Cherny Bock ~ This beer is a true gem and is easily one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted. This black beer has a gentle bitterness and is a surprisingly easy beer to drink. If you love specialty beers, you will love the Cherny Bock! I love this beer so much that I’m actually drinking one right now!

Bohemian also serves an amazing selection of delicious food that is perfectly paired with their beer offerings. I suggest their famous nachos smothered in a blend of cheeses and nacho goodies, their Garlic Fries, Steak Salad, and Verona Sandwich! You can check out their menu here. Bohemian Brewery also has an amazing brunch that you need to try if you are in he Midvale area. I’m already looking forward to my next trip there!
