Enjoying Brunch at Wild Grape Bistro

14 October 2010 By: Becky One Comment | Restaurant Reviews, featured

Those who know and love me invite me to brunch.  Lately, I’ve been in beguiled by Wild Grape Bistro.

I am honored to contribute on Taste of Salt Lake and as a way of introductions, I thought I would start with some favorites: brunch, bistros, patios, and local fare.  All of which can be found at Wild Grape.

After a long, stubborn period of loyalty to the late Avenues Bakery, I finally visited Wild Grape Bistro for brunch.  The Avenues Bakery, which used to run in the cafe that now houses Wild Grape, was my favorite brunch spot and I mourned its passing after their doors closed.  I still miss their granola and bran muffins, and have even tried to come up with similar recipes to theirs to make up for the loss.  When I realized my ridiculousness, I decided to give Wild Grape Bistro a chance.  It also helped that I was meeting up with some girlfriends for a special morning.

One of my favorite things (really, I get giddy at the thought of it) is going to brunch with my husband or a group of friends.  Salt Lake has tons of brunch options, and if you haven’t explored them, I encourage you to check out my list of brunch spots and make your way down the list to find your own personal favorites.

The Avenues Bakery wowed me with their beignets, enamored me with their morning cocktails, and won me over with their Brioche French Toast with lemon curd, blueberries and maple syrup.  For the more savory souls, their Petit Grape Salad with a cup of their soup satisfies holistically.  And for the benedict connoisseurs, their Grape’s Benedict served with black forest ham, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce over a freshly made biscuit will renew your love for the benedictine-type breakfast.

The food is top notch and the service and atmosphere are equally as first class.  You can’t beat the downtown location with picture windows and large heated patio.

If you’re not into brunch, check out their superb dinner menu or take a break in your day for a lunch that will convince you that you live in a great city.

We love eating at the Wild Grape Bistro. This is a nice review but you mention that you are at Avenues Bakery and then talk about the Wild Grape Bistro’s food. Just an oversight when thinking back about the bakery. Avenues bakery had a good breakfast, small menu but their bread was the best. We also miss the bakery but are very glad that the Wild Grape is here as we eat out more for dinner and it is one of the best restaurants in town just down the street from our house. Have you tried a wine dinner their? We are going to the Judd Hill wine dinner on Monday November 8th. Can’t wait to see what they come up with.
